Where’s Jaspa? (June 3rd, 2013)

Can you even spot me and Phyllis?

Can you even spot me and Phyllis?

On Sunday we crossed into California, and have spent the last two days traveling south along the coast. So today’s question isn’t really about where we are. Instead I’m wondering, who can identify the giants with which we’ve been sharing the latest part of our Journey?

A magnificent view of Crater Lake and ‘The Wizard’

The place pictured in my last blog was Crater Lake in southern Oregon, the world’s largest caldera and the deepest lake in the United States.

Crater Lake was one of the main anchor points on this trip, so when we realised (on the day before we were due to see it!) that the road to the crater might not yet be open, we were more than a little concerned. We approached the start of the road with trepidation…. would it be open or not?

It really was a glorious day!

Well, obviously the answer was ‘yes’, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to post photos of us there in my last blog, but we were worried for a while there.

As it turned out, our timing couldn’t have been better. Although the East Rim was still closed, the views from the West Rim, complete with snow, were simply perfect!
