The last few days have been incredible. On Monday we arrived in Kauai, making Hawaii our 50th state visited. Since then we’ve explored, hiked and even spent time at the beach (geocaching). But the highlight has undoubtedly been a flight around the island in a biplane.
So imagine my excitement when all three photo challenges I regularly follow provided words (or a phrase in one case) that perfectly mesh together with my experiences of the last four days. The themes are as follows: Ailsa from Where’s My Backpack? chose ‘Sky‘, Sue from A Word In Your Ear picked ‘High‘, while the Daily Post‘s weekly offering is ‘Let There Be Light‘.
Here’s how I again combined all three…
Coming in to land at Lihue airport, Kauai, at sunset. At this point I suppose we’d technically only seen Hawaii, not been there!
Wednesday November 27th, 2013, 6am: Sunrise on the beach. I know this doesn’t really work with High, except in a ‘minimum’ sense, but it starts a nice progression for a single day…
Wednesday November 27th, 2013, 10am: Flying over the dramatic Na Pali coast of Kauai in a biplane. The light and shadow really picks up the ruggedness of the cliffs.
Wednesday November 27th, 2013, 6pm: Sunset from the lip of Waimea Canyon, looking down and across towards the Forbidden Island of Niihau.
Wednesday November 27th, 2013, 6pm: Another shot of the sunset over Niihau.
