I’ve seen a lot of pedestrian crossings over the years. From the Walk, Don’t Walk of the United States, the Belisha beacons of the UK and the Ampelmännchen of former Eastern Germany.
But only one has ever made me LOL, as they say.
I don’t know if this type of crossing occurs elsewhere in Chile. I only saw it in Santiago’s main square, the Plaza de Armas.
Unfortunately, still images really don’t do it justice. So make sure to check out the video below. (The real fun starts with about 9 seconds to go.)
This post was inspired by this week’s photo challenges of Automatic from Jennifer’s One Word Photo Challenge, Now from Jen H. of The Daily Post, Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge and Jo’s Monday Walk.

Jo’s Monday gallop, Jaspa? 🙂 🙂 Thanks for dragging me along! And best wishes for 2016 🙂
Thanks, Jo!
This is great! Love it.
Happy you enjoyed it!
Those lights are perfect for odd ball. Thanks so much for playing.
Glad you gave this post the ‘green light’, Cee!
woah……This is awesome…..I’m amazed…….
It’s kind of fun, isn’t it?!
Great Post. Happy New Year 2016
Happy New Year to you too, Mukul!
Thank you
Nice! Love the video!
It still makes me smile!
I can imagine =)
Nice to see the video – reminded me of some nice holidays in Spain. They’ve got similar traffic lights there for pedestrians in some places (Sevilla if I remember correctly). Unfortunately it never occurred to me to take a picture, let alone a video when I was there! 🙂
Although Rich seems to be constantly snapping away when we travel, there’s always something he regrets not photographing, Arwen!

Too fun!
Isn’t it?!
Lovely, thanks for the video, So cute that the green man accelerates as the countdown progresses!
Much more fun than the run (no pun intended) of the mill crossing, isn’t it, Graham?!
Indeed it is!
