Yesterday I teased you with three photos of murky forms lurking in the Hawaiian surf (playing along with Cee’s photo challenge of What’s This?). I asked if anyone could identify the shapes.
As Peggy and Ann-Christine correctly guessed, the things concealed in waves were turtles. Green Sea Turtles to be precise. And in case you don’t believe me, here are some less obscure images of these marvelous creatures:
At the time, we were actually looking for a geocache in the parking lot of a well-known restaurant just east of the town of Paia, near the start of the famous Road to Hana. You can imagine Sue’s amazement when she happened to look over the cliff and saw heads bobbing around in the surf just below.
A few days later we actually got to swim with Green Sea Turtles off Lahaina on the other side of Maui, but I’ll save that for another post.
This (and yesterday’s) post is inspired by this week’s photo challenges of What’s This? from Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge and Breathe from Ailsa of Where’s My Backpack?
