Imagine the pure happiness of seeing a whole pod Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins while out on the water.
Now imagine the pure joy when they start playing off the bow of your boat, so close you could almost reach out and touch them.
And now imagine the pure delight when one of them turns out to be a pup!
That’s just what happened to us during a snorkelling trip with Hawaii Ocean Rafting out of Lahaina, Maui.
Glorious!
The only thing better would be to actually swim with wild dolphins, which we got to do 2½ years ago off Hawai’i.
This post is inspired by this week’s photo challenges of Close from Ailsa of Where’s My Backpack?, Pure from Jen of the Daily Post and Glorious from Hugh of Hugh’s News and Views.
If you’re the sort of person that loves to experience local wildlife on your travels, why not sign up and follow my continuing Journeys here at Jaspa’s Journal (on WordPress or Bloglovin’), or through my website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr?
And if that’s not enough for you, the first Jaspa’s Journey adventure, The Great Migration, is now available in both paperback and ebook formats from Amazon and other online booksellers! The first two sequels are scheduled to be released by Speaking Volumes later this year.

grandi immagini! grazie mille
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed them!
Oh lovely – and how cute is that dolphin pup!! 😀
Everyone was very excited to see him/her, as you can imagine, Peggy!
Oh, I can imagine – it must’ve been special!
We get to see Dolphins off the coast of Wales, sometimes, but our waters are nowhere near as clear as the ones in Hawai. This must have been a day you’ll never forget. Thank you so much for linking the post to my photo challenge.
Best wishes,
Hugh
Thanks Hugh, and you’re welcome. I look forward to coming back often. Speaking of going back, we’re going back to Wales in a couple of weeks (Rich was born and grew up in Wrexham).
North Wales. I live down in South Wales. Have a great time. It’s a beautiful part of the country, especially around the Snowdon area. Look forward to seeing some photos.
