Chile Capital of the World! – Hatch, New Mexico

The local economy of Hatch, New Mexico, is all about the chile peppers (also spelled chili or chilli) grown there. But whatever your spelling preference, the most important word is spicy!

img_0724During a trip through New Mexico one November, we called in at Hatch to find out what all the zing was about. We were treated to the vibrant colours of chilies drying in the New Mexican sunshine. What a sight (and flavour)!

  2. We have noticed significant number of chili pepper decors in NM. We stopped by a farmers market this weekend in NM, where we saw many chili pepper ristras and wreaths. They are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

They bring in loads of Hatch peppers to the grocery stores here, and have big roasters outside. Your photos are wonderful!
