No matter who we are, no matter what we do, we all like to occasionally receive a little praise. It nourishes us, makes us feel valued, and helps us continue on.
This is especially true for an author… someone who traditionally works in a bubble, on their own, with little outside contact much of the time.
It’s always encouraging when your books receive some kind of recognition. A really positive review on Amazon can be just what you need on an otherwise dismal day. And being shortlisted for – or even winning – an award is amazing.
So you can imagine how thrilled I was to be selected by Chapters Belleville bookstore to be their Local Author of the Month for October 2022!

We kicked off the month with a signing event in-store – only my second signing since Covid raised its ugly head.
For the remainder of October, the whole Jaspa’s Journey series will be featured prominently around the store. It’s very exciting!

In fact, I shot my first ever TikTok video in-store to celebrate! (I also shared the video on my/Jaspa’s other social media.)
So thank you Chapters Belleville for piercing my little author bubble with a bright ray of sunshine. It really does mean a whole lot!
The above post is taken from this month’s Fiction Meets Fact Newsletter. To receive future newsletters in their entirety (together with a Free Jaspa’s Journey Booklet including the short story Freefall over London and Jaspa’s Journey images to colour), click on the image below.

Expand the minds of your strong middle grade readers by travelling the World with Jaspa’s Journey adventure novels! The first four – The Great Migration, The Pride of London, Jaspa’s Waterloo, and The Hermit of Kennecott – are now available in both paperback and ebook formats. Click here for more information.
