Venice’s Secret Garden

This week’s photo themes are Gardens from Where’s My Backpack?, Inside from the Daily Post and Two Colo(u)rs or Hues Only from Cee’s Photography.

I’ve decided to keep it really simple and illustrate all three themes with a single photograph:

Parco SavorgnanThis is the Parco Savorgnan in Venice, Italy. It’s a public Garden in the north part of the city, in the Cannareggio area. Hidden Inside its enclosure of high walls and buildings, most visitors to this part of Venice walk within a few tens of yards of the garden, yet remain completely unaware of its existence, despite its size.

We were last in Venice in late October, 2010, when the predominant colours in the garden were green and brown, as you can see. I wonder what it will look like when we return this coming August. I’m so excited to find out!

While you’re dreaming of this peaceful oasis surrounded by the canals and bustle of Venice, why not sign up and follow my continuing Journeys here at Jaspa’s Journal, or through my websiteFacebook, Twitter and Instagram?

And if that’s not enough for you, there are now three Jaspa’s Journey novels to enjoy as ebooks! Perfect for Kids 8 – 80!

Parks and green spaces in Venice are quite rare, but we were also fortunate to discover one in the Castello area (past the Arsenale) when we visited one very hot day in June a couple of years ago. It was so good to find some cool shade and a seat to rest our weary legs (all that up and over the canals is what does it 🙂 ) I look forward to your European adventures – when do you leave?
