In the hills of central Jamaica is the tiny village of Nine Mile. At first glance, this unremarkable hamlet holds little to interest your average tourist.
Until you realise it is both the birthplace and final resting place of one of Jamaica’s most famous sons, Bob Marley.
In 1945, Robert Nesta Marley was born in a small, two room stone house in Nine Mile.
During his all-too-brief 36 years, Bob Marley became a musical giant and a peace activist recognised through the world.
In 1981, he was laid to rest in a mausoleum just yards away from the house where he was born, beside his brother and mother.
Over 30 years later, fans continue to flock to Nine Mile in their thousands, to pay their respects to the man who wrote One Love! One Heart! Let’s get together and feel all right.
I couldn’t have put it better myself, Bob.
This post was inspired by this week’s photo challenge of One Love from Anne of The Daily Post.

Fascinating, I always forget how young he was when he died and how long ago it was. I suppose because his music is still listened too so much he still seems to be around.
I know what you mean, Anabel.
Reblogged this on Concierge Librarian.
